RESILIENCE

This experiential course is an introduction to resilience. Resilience is the ability to bounce back from adversity. Some of the topics we will cover include personality and cognitive variables that promote resilience, coping styles, the role of family and social networks in resilience, brain mechanisms, gender differences, and resilience in organizations, communities, and nations. We will conclude the course with an evidence-based resiliency toolkit of trainable skills to enhance resilience.

KEEPING RELATIONSHIPS HEALTHY FOR COUPLES

This transformational training gives couples an opportunity to focus on their relationships and gives them a clear vision of what a healthy marriage looks like. The purpose of each session is to provide couples with the needed skills to experience love and thrive in their marriage. These skills include verbal and non-verbal communication, meaningful apologies and forgiveness, emotional presence, emotional responsiveness, and emotional engagement. It also aims to bring awareness to some of the stumbling blocks and personal hindrances that come with intimate and close relationships.

This experiential course is an introduction to mindfulness. Through it, participants will
learn the principles of practice, develop their own mediation practice, and apply principles to daily life.
They will learn strategies to skillfully work with thoughts, emotions, and sensations while developing
their capacity to enhance mind-body awareness of present-moment experience. They will learn about the beneficial effects of mindfulness on physical and mental health and well-being. This course is designed for beginners and is also suitable for those with experience who want to refine their practice. Classes consist of a combination of lecture,
practice, and discussion.
